30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 17

Your Least Favorite Classic:
The AristoCats

I really hate associating anything Disney with least favorite but if I absolutely had to choose one I guess this would be it. The story is cute but it doesn't stick too much with me. I do love the scene above though. I think I can find something I like in every Disney movie.

Tell me about yours!

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 16

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 16

Your Favorite Classic:
The Lion King

I have always loved The Lion King. Nowadays my friends refer to me as "the animal girl." I have always grown up with a soft spot for animals which is why I think I can relate to this film so much. I love the lesson it teaches as well. We cannot run from our past and sometimes our past can hurt but it doesn't mean we can't triumph over it.

Honorable Mention: Beauty and the Beast. Every girl loves a good prince and princess story and it teaches one of my all time favorite lessons: don't judge a book by its cover.

The First Movie You Saw:
Mickey's Christmas Carol

I actually had to ask Mom exactly which movie it was I had seen first when I was little. I've seen so many I couldn't actually remember the first time I sat down and watched a Disney movie. She said we used to watch this when we were in Germany. To this day, Mickey's Christmas Carol is still my favorite re-telling of this classic tale.

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 14

Your Favorite Kiss:
Belle and Beast

I can't help it! I love this kiss! They make such a great couple and I have such a crush on Beast in both forms! Who doesn't love a kiss that saves an entire castle from such a long period of suffering and ends in both figurative and literal fireworks as they embrace each other more tightly.

Honorable Mention: The kiss between Tiana and Prince Naveen. Because we all love a kiss that turns the princess into a frog!

Day 13

Your Least Favorite Song:
Bella Note (This is the Night)

I don't know why...I just can't listen to this song when it's on. I find it boring and a little annoying which is sad because I love this scene between Lady and Tramp. I wish I could find a Tramp to share his spaghetti with me.

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 12

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 12

Your Favorite Villain Song:
A Night on Bald Mountain

Although there are no lyrics in "A Night on Bald Mountain", the instruments carry the idea of evil that encompasses this scene in which a demon emerges from a mountain top that gives rise to the evil of the night. Chernabog is the essence of evil. His only enemy is the sun and as the music begins to play Chernabog arises and sets evil upon the village below for no other reason other than the fact that he can. I love how this song sends chills down my spine every time I watch this scene in Fantasia.

Runner Up: Hellfire from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The conflicting emotions Frollo expresses in this song are risky even for a Disney movie.

Day 11

Your Favorite Love Song:
I See the Light

I never thought I would like a song sung by Mandy Moore so much! This song is beautiful and so is the scene in which it is sung. I love the chemistry between Flynn and Rapunzel here. They finally start to become honest with each other. I also love what the song represents. Literally Rapunzel is singing of seeing the light festival she has been dreaming about going to since she was a child, but both her and Flynn realize they are seeing a new light and a new dream in each other.

Runner Up: I won't say (I'm in love) from Hercules. I love singing to this song!

Day 10

Your Favorite Song:
Go the Distance

I love this song! The lyrics really show that Hercules is going to achieve his dreams and it makes me want to achieve mine. I love listening to and singing this song at the top of my lungs when I am feeling down or lacking in confidence. Hercules is the awkward kid with many problems, but shows us that we all fit in in our own way. At some point in our lives I'm sure we can all relate.

Honorable Mention: I'll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan. It's just so catchy!

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 9

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 9

Your Favorite Original Character:
Mickey Mouse

Is there really any other answer here? Mickey is loyal, honest, caring and an all around good guy. Although Minnie's beau may sometimes be too curious for his own good (as we see in The Sorcerer's Apprentice), he is always helping out his friends and keeping the rest of the gang out of trouble. Every time I see those three little circles that signify his image, I feel like a kid again. Who doesn't enjoy looking for hidden Mickeys around not only the parks, but also in anything Disney related. Mickey and Disney go hand in hand and I don't think either would be the same without each other.

And who is your favorite character?

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 8

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 8

Your Favorite Villain:
Maleficent

I had a lot of trouble with this category because I am a huge fan of Disney villains but Maleficent won out in the end. She scares the bejeezus out of me! The creepy music that plays while Aurora is following the ball of light to prick her finger on the needle is just plain scary, and Diablo, the scary raven Maleficent uses to do her bidding is creepy as well. She scared me when I was little and she still scares me now which makes her the ultimate villain.

Honorable Mention: The Queen of Hearts. She is off her rocker and I love it! Off With Her Head!

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 7

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 7

Your Favorite Sidekick:
Genie

Who doesn't love a sidekick that can basically give you anything you want, with an awesome theme song, that gives excellent advice? Genie is the ultimate sidekick and Aladdin's voice of reason. He is also hilarious. One of the funniest characters from the classics in my opinion and is capable of being your best friend. Just remember to keep an eye on your lamp and save a wish for him. You don't want genie falling into the wrong hands.

Runner Up: Lumiere and Cogsworth. Because without them Beast never would have had a chance!

Coordinating

So my new friend Arielle and I have decided that we are going to be roommates when we move into our new apartments in Orlando.

Arielle is 22 and a senior in college majoring in Anthropology. Not sure if she is graduating in December or not. I guess that's something I will have to ask her. She is from south Florida and is going to be a Conservation Education Presenter just like myself. Arielle loves to read just like myself, and also likes different teas. We can't wait to shop for different teas around Epcot together and try them out. Not to mention we are both huge Disney dorks (I thought I was the only one.)

We are already trying to coordinate our bedroom to figure out what we will be bringing so we don't double up on stuff, and trying to match our bedding and such so our room won't look so mismatched. I just knew we were going to be friends when I first started talking to her and now I'm so excited to get down to Florida and get to know my new friend (especially with the earthquakes we have been having here in Kansas, LOL!)

Arielle and I are also going to try and make Hilaire and Kerstin our suite mates on the other end of the apartment. Both Hilaire and Kerstin are great gals and I knew as soon as I started chatting with them that I would also become friends with both of them. Hilaire is going to be one of the Vet Hospital Interns with Animal Kingdom and believe it or not, she is from Kansas too! I can't wait to share all of our animal stories. I think she could teach me a lot as well. Not just with the new stuff she will be learning at Disney, but also with everything she has done in the past. Kerstin will also be a Conservation Education Presenter and I have a lot in common with Kerstin as well. She also loves animals. She's living in Texas right now and I know that she used to train show horses, not sure if she still does. Plus we like a lot of the same movies and video games, and we both have a crush on Kovu (love that lion!)

I am so excited to be making new friends and sharing new experiences. Cross your fingers for us so that we all get in the same apartment together!

So I am asking all of you to help us! We are hoping we think of everything to bring but I'm sure we will forget stuff. Can you think of anything we might overlook that we might need while we are there?? Thanks for your help!

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 6

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 6

Your Favorite Animal:
Dug

dug hi there

Squirrel! Need I say more? Dug is loyal to a fault and will love you the instant he sees you. Who doesn't love a talking dog? (That also speaks Japanese!) Dug becomes a hero in his own way, through his own path, and manages to find what he was looking for all along. A family. Not to mention the fact that I think if my dog could talk, he'd sound exactly like Dug! They have similar personalities.

Runner Up: Absolem from Alice in Wonderland. Because who doesn't love a wise and all-knowing Hookah smoking caterpillar with an ego?

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 5

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 5

Your Favorite Hero:
Basil of Baker Street

I had A LOT of trouble with this category. That being said, I chose Basil because he is one of the very few Disney heroes who relies on cleverness instead of brute strength to win his battles. Although he can hold his own in a fight. Based off of the character of Sherlock Holmes (whose house he just happens to live under), Basil is just as witty and bull-headed, but manages to spend the entire movie trying to help save a little girl. Even the stubborn ones have hearts. :)

Honorable mention: Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet. Jim shows us that we can all make mistakes and bad decisions, but that doesn't mean we can't correct them. Not to mention he spends his free time solar surfing, which is the second coolest sport next to Quidditch.

There were about 8 other characters I also wanted to add to this list as well.

Alright now it's your turn. Who's your favorite Hero?

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 4

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 4

Your Favorite Prince:
Prince Caspian

Not sure if the Narnia movies count in this challenge or not, but I am counting them because Prince Caspian might be the first Prince I have ever had a crush on. He shows great humility during his journeys and he is the first Telmarine that shows respect to the Narnians after centuries of abusing them. Caspian ensured equality for all races and beings in Narnia. Not to mention the fact that he is really dreamy with a really cute accent! The first time I saw him I think I was in love! ;)

Tell me about your favorite prince! I would love to hear from you!

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 3

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 3

Your Favorite Heroine:
Mulan

Mulan catches my attention in this category obviously not for her looks (even though she is beautiful). Mulan steals her father's armor, impersonates a soldier, and wrecks the Emperor's Palace, all while saving the entire Chinese Empire! My favorite part about her character is that Mulan doesn't do any of this for herself but for her father's honor.

Who is your favorite heroine?

A New Home

Yesterday I received the email that gave me a link to a site which contained information on everything I would need to start my internship. It gave me all the paperwork I would need to feel out, how to reserve my housing, and a large chunk of information on The Disney Look. Some of the rules are strict but that's understandable. It takes a lot to make dreams come true everyday.

The first thing I did upon visiting the website was jump right to the housing section. Disney housing is limited and I wanted to reserve my spot. I did immediately! I will be in a 2 bedroom with 3 other girls. My check-in is 8:00 AM at the apartment complex. Then I have to be at casting at 10:00 AM on January 12th. Not only are the apartments really nice, but the have all of these really great amenities, and Disney holds some really fun social events for us while there. I can't wait! I really hope I get to request roommates because I have been getting to know some of the girls I will be working with and they seem like they would be great to live and hang out with!

The Disney Look involves both being on stage and off stage, so I must make sure I pick up some professional clothing for the occasions when I am off stage as well. Mom and I have been looking and I think we've seen some really cute stuff.

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 2

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 2

Your Favorite Princess:
Belle

I know it's cliche to have Belle, Ariele, Aurora, or Cinderella as one of your favorite Disney Princesses but I can't help it. Belle and I have so much in common. She always has her head in a book. Belle's thirst for knowledge is similar to mine as well. On top of it all she doesn't need a prince to rescue her. Belle is the one who raced out to save her father and managed to break the curse on the castle. Who doesn't like the girl that saves the day. Not to mention she put Gaston in his proper place. Tiana from Princess and the Frog holds a close second for me because she is another independent woman. A working girl who achieved her dreams before becoming a Princess. The princess part was just a perk.

Who is your favorite Princess and why?

30 Day Disney Challenge Day 1

Since I won't have very many updates for a while I thought I'd take a card from my new friend Arielle and share the 30 Day Disney Challenge with you. So here goes...

30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 1

Your Favorite Character:
Jack Sparrow

So I'm not sure how this should be interpreted, however, I am taking it as any Disney character, animated or live action. If that is the case my favorite character would have to be (Captain) Jack Sparrow. Hands down. This character managed to change the way we look at pirates forever. Who doesn't love a drunken crazy pirate who manages to get everything right just by winging it? Jack even managed to change a classic ride at Disney World now that he is a fan favorite on the Pirates of the Caribbean. I was always a fan of pirates and after Jack came along, I wanted to be one myself. Can anybody tell me where I can find a profession that allows me to sail on a ship and drink rum all day long? Only as a pirate. Sign me up! :)

Who is your favorite Disney character?

New Friends

Just wanted to give a shout out to my new friends I will be working with this January. I have gotten to know them over the last couple of days and can't wait to meet them in person.

I have chit chatted with Hilaire, Kerstin, Arielle, Casey, Jay and Kelly a lot over the last couple of days and they are some of the coolest people I've ever talked to. All of them are just as excited about their internship. They also share my love of Disney as well. We thought we were the only Disney dorks out there and now we have all found each other! Yay!

Talking with them has also helped me decide that I will be participating in Disney housing. Everyone I've talked to will be living there as well and I not only want to live with my new friends, but take advantage of all the fun activities that Disney offers when you live in their housing.

Hope everyone is having a magical day!

Communication

Hi Everybody! Hope you are all well.

Today I received my first piece of information after accepting my internship. I was invited to join a private website where other interns and Disney cast members can communicate with each other. This is specifically for those involved with the Animal Sciences and Environmental teams (formally known as the Animal Programs team). Just like Facebook but for Disney Animal Science employees.

This is great! Now I can get to know some of the interns before I actually head down to Florida. Maybe even find a roommate or two before arriving. It also allows me to talk to not just the interns but the cast members as well. If I do this right I could get to know some of my bosses and maybe find a mentor before I even get there.

The profile picture I used for the site was one of me with a Dolphin. Already heard back from some of the people on the site and they thought my picture was cool after sending out a welcome message to all and wishing them a happy belated Halloween.

Can't wait to hear about more information. I'll tell you more when I know!
